What Do I Need to Know Before Coloring Hair Extensions?
Donna Bella Hair comes in a variety of 37 colors, ranging from jet black to platinum, to funky-colored hair to help you create the hair you want — whether it’s to match your hair, add highlights or lowlights to it, or add vibrant color.
In some instances, when you can’t match the color you want exactly, you may need to color the hair you purchased. Since Donna Bella Hair is made from 100% human remy hair and has gone through extensive treatment processes to maintain the integrity of the hair, you can color the extensions as you would your own hair. However, there are certain precautions to take when coloring hair extensions. Here are a few of our recommendations:
- Deposit color to the hair; do not strip it of color. This is particularly important to note because the process involved in lightening hair can damage the hair extensions permanently.
- Never go more than two levels when depositing the color.
- Color the hair extensions before installing them.
- Test the desired color on a strand of hair to see the results before coloring your whole batch of hair extensions.
As long as you follow these general precautions and others that may come from your particular brand of color, you will be able to achieve optimal results when coloring your Donna Bella hair extensions.

What is “Remy” Hair? And what does it have to do with Extensions?
Remy hair means the cuticle of the hair is completely intact and not lifted nor damaged. It also means the cuticle is going the same direction. This is what makes good quality hair. Having remy hair extensions means having hair that won’t matte, become dry and brittle, creating a tangly mess.
Hair processed at other factories would say things such as “100% remy like” or “remy hair” which both imply that their hair extensions are not 100% remy. Having 100% human remy hair is the only kind we recommend to achieve gorgeous long and thick hair. Our hair extensions are guaranteed to be 100% human remy human hair.

What Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner Do You Recommend?
Our professional opinion on what sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to use is simple. Ask the sales representatives that come to your salon or ask your local distributor. They know the shampoos and conditioners that have the highest ratings that are sulfate-free. We recommend asking them which ones are the most popular in your area.

How Many Hair Extensions Do I Need for a Full Head Installation?
A full head of extensions range from 5 to 9 packs of hair, assuming each pack contains 20 strands, 1g per strand. If your client has fine, thin hair with some layers and about shoulder length, chances are 5 to 6 packs may be enough.
If your client has a blunt bob that is medium to thick in density, you will require about 10 to 12 packs of hair since you will need to blend the extensions in for a natural look.
For most clients, you will need at least 5 packs or 100 strands of hair extensions. The number of hair extension packages you need will be based on the length and thickness of the client’s hair and the length and volume the client wants to achieve. This is why it is very important to have the client come in for a consultation prior to installation.
For fine/thin hair, from the occipital bone down, it will take about 50- 60 strands; from the occipital up, to the crown, it will take 50-60 strands.
For medium/thick hair, from the occipital bone down it will take 60- 80 strands; from the occipital bone up, to the crown it will take 50-80 strands.
Remember, if the hair of your client is thicker or shorter, more often than not, you will need more packages of hair extensions to be able to blend the hair in, making it easy for you to create a natural look.
