s women our hair is our crown. When we have less than “royal crowns” we are fortunate enough to have extensions.
Very few women have “to die for” hair without some kind of aid or change. It could be as simple as straightening with a round brush and finishing up with a flat iron or it could be all out color, cut, and style! We change our hair for a multitude of reasons. Some changes are for a new look others could be out of pure necessity. Hair loss is one of those unwelcome needs for change
There are several things that contribute to hair loss, genetics, age, prescription drugs, stress, and illness, to name a few. Lupus is one of those factors that I am familiar with. I apply extension to quite a few women with Lupus. Lupus can reign havoc on our crowns! Extensions can get Lupus patients through flairs as well as the side effects of some medications. As a person who has first hand experience with the hair loss associated with Lupus I sympathize and do whatever I can to help.
I have found that along with extensions, Biotin is quite an aid! Biotin is a vitamin included in the vitamin B group which is essential for healthy hair, nails and skin. It is not manufactured in the body like a lot of other vitamins. Biotin helps maintain and keep hair healthy, while aiding with growth. There is oral and topical forms. I take 7500mg orally a day along with a multi vitamin. The topical forms are found in shampoos, and conditioners to name a few. Oral biotin is believed to be the best form as biotin is not easily absorbed through the skin. I notice a difference when I do not take biotin, and when I do take it after a hiatus I can see new hair growth spiking all over my head in about 4-6 weeks. I try to remain consistent with taking it as it seems to work very well for me.
Consult your doctor before you add any supplements from your diet to make sure they are a good fit for you and do not interact with any medications you may be taking.
Luckily as women we have endless possibilities to give ourselves “royal crowns”. Long, thick, gorgeous, hair comes in the form of extensions for so many people. It is a welcome change from thinning hair that effects so many women. I believe change is good, and how can you argue when change looks so good!
