I have done it. I must admit. I went for Botox in 2009 and loved the results. It is a bit pricey at my local spa as it is administered by a board certified doctor. I feel a lot more comfortable that way. The price has been a deterrent but not a be all end all. Lets just say Botox has taken a backseat to other beauty rituals, ie my favorite skin care products, and my Donna Bella hair extensions!
I decided to wait it out as Botox was more of a preemptive strike at this point in my life and not a necessary evil. I thank my mother and her genes for that along with a diligent skin care regimen. It wasn’t until I saw a ad for Dysport that i took another look in the mirror and said, “Don’t you owe it to yourself to try this method so when you do decide to become a card carrying member of the say by bye to my wrinkles club, you will be informed and have made a choice based on preference?
So begins the research. Here is what I have found thus far. Dysport is a medication used much in the same way Botox is used. Dysport is injected using a very small gauge needle, it is compared to that of an eyelash in dimension. It relaxes the facial muscles in the treated area and can be explained like this, take a wrinkled shirt, if you hang it up the wrinkles will fall out and become less prominent. Very basic explanation but none the less to the point and easy to understand. The muscles are not used so therefore they can not create the wrinkle. voila! Effects have been reported to work in as little as two days and can last up to six months! I like am liking this so far!
Dysport is not a new medication. it has been successfully used for over 10 years for the treatment of facial wrinkles in Europe, South America, and Asia. This five minute procedure works by blocking nerve impulses and gives you a more youthful appearance. You can still make facial expression by using the untreated areas! This is why it is important you get the procedure from someone who has vast knowledge of facial muscles and their movements!
Now lets discuss safety. Dysport has been shown to have a equal if not more favorable safety record then Botox! That is a plus in my book! It as been used to treat many ophthalmologic and neurological disorders. As with any medication there can be rare side effects as every person is different and can react in a different way. The most common reported side effects are temporary soreness or mild bruising around the injection site. This and any questions or concerns should be addressed by your physician.
Here is one more interesting piece of information. dysport and Botox consist of the same basic ingredient Botlulinum Toxin A. It has been reported that Dysport has longer lasting results yet has been proven to have equal if not better results in certain wrinkle areas and may proove to be more effective. All of this with a very similar side effect and safety profile, interesting, very interesting.
In all, if you are considering an inject able wrinkle aid, then you may want to further research these two very good medications and then schedule a consultation with your physician to see if either are a good choice for you!
Meet The Author

Hello everyone, I'm Shannon. I'm a long time Michigan native. I have been doing extensions for 19 years. I love making people feel better about themselves through this technique. I currently do extensions out of my home and at times, my clients homes. I have personally wore extensions on and off since I was 19. You name the method, I have wore them! Seeing peoples reaction after they get their first look with their "new hair" never gets old! I especially like doing hair of people that have problems retaining their hair such as Lupus patients. I myself have Lupus and battle with the fall outs. Extensions have saved my sanity while waiting for new growth, this is why I am fond of the i-tip bead method-NO DAMAGE!!
I am a mom to 6 of the most wonderful children and a wife to one of the greatest men out there! As you can imagine, between being a stylist and home life, I am quite busy however, I honestly wouldn't have it any other way! Cooking is another one of my passions-Italian recipes are a personal favorite as it is my heritage. Never met a Italian meal I did not like!! I enjoy exercising and trying my best to stay fit and healthy!!
If you looking for great set of extensions, and your in the Macomb County area send me an email or message me through my blog!
