In the years that I have been doing hair extensions, I have seen some crazy things that can happen to hair extensions so I thought I would share of my Don’ts with you!

-Don’t let your cat lay in your hair extensions while sleeping…unless tangled  hot mess is your new look!

-Don’t get drunk in Mexico on vacation and leave your hair extensions wet and tangled for days and then wonder why they aren’t as nice as they usually are.

-Don’t ride a roller coaster without putting your hair extensions up, unless you want to rock a 70s fro!

-Don’t ever flat iron your hair extensions without using heat protection products and then wonder why your extensions are damaged.

—IF YOU DON’T WANT USE HEAT PROTECTION PRODUCTS….WHY DON’T YOU JUST BEND YOUR BOOTY OVER AND STICK YOUR HEAD IN THE OVEN!—
(Because flat iron tools now get just as hot and technically that is what you are doing!)

-Don’t just let any hairstylist cut your hair extensions….lots of stylists can, but a lot more can’t!

-Don’t pay a high price for a salon hair extensions consultation! Why pay $200 just to meet someone…what if you really don’t like them after…. you are out $200 and still have no damn hair!

-Don’t spend hundreds of dollars on hair extensions and then go home and wash them with Pantene shampoo! Using professional products can sometimes be the difference of loving your hair extensions or cutting them out!

-Don’t take a hairstylist seriously if she says for you to go buy your own hair! You are not a hairstylist you don’t know the difference between ash blond and beige blonde. Or what exact texture you need. When she tries to send you to the local Chinese joint…..RUN!

-Don’t think that because some hair extensions are more expensive that you are getting better hair! I have done the leg work, when I was opening my salon….let’s just say you can thank me later for this don’t. Thank goodness I found Donna Bella!

-Don’t be afraid to brush your hair! I want you to take care of your hair extensions…if you don’t brush it, it will turn into a big tangled birds nest! Then you get to hand some of your hard earned cash to your stylist to fix it and she won’t be thrilled!

-Don’t let your boyfriend of your children pull on your hair extensions! It will cause damage and give you some bald spots…. And that’s Not Hot!

So those are just a few of some of the things I have ran into while having the pleasure of doing hair extensions. Hair extensions can be so much fun, and honestly they are really easy to wear and style. Just remember my don’ts when you are considering wearing or are already wearing hair extensions.

I wasn’t one of those gals who always wanted to do hair. I actually only went to cosmetology school to prove a point. I fell completely in love with hair while I was in hair school. Which is also where I found out I was allergic to it too!!! Which my clients find comical!!

I took a hair extension training class while still in hair school in 2005. After that I knew it was hair extensions or nothing else!!

After hair school I went to work at a salon that only did hair extensions or services to go with them. At that salon I learned more about how to get quicker, how to get better, and what not to do. Boy, did I ever hear and see some crazy hair stories!

Now I own a hair salon here in Overland Park, Kansas called Tru Beauty. I offer three different methods of hair extensions: fusion, mini-links, and seamless. In 2009, under our old salon name Luscious Locs we placed 3rd in KC City Voter for “Best Hair Salon”!

I do hair extensions from everyone to stay at home moms, professional women, to beauty contestants.

I always have something to say about hair extensions or hair care, so I am pleased to share my random thoughts with all of you!! I am not your ordinary hairstylist, I don’t have a filter and I say it how it is!!
